Assistant Minister/Ministry Director

Trinity South Christchurch
Location: Christchurch, New Zealand
Location type: On-Site
Date advertised: 10th June 2026
Job Type: Full time
Closing Date: When Suitable Applicant is Found

Trinity South Christchurch (Church of Confessing Anglicans, Aotearoa New Zealand) is looking for a full-time Assistant Minister / Ministry Director to be part of the Senior Staff team to lead and take responsibility for two ministry areas. Through godly leadership, faithful example, and a genuine commitment to developing others, you will help shape Trinity into a loving community of mature disciples of Jesus, characterised by sacrificial love for Christ and increasing passion and effectiveness in reaching South Christchurch for him.

You will be:

  • A conservative evangelical, committed to the supreme authority of the Bible and the priority of God's Word and prayer.
  • A model of godly life and doctrine: prayerfully dependent, servant-hearted, and generous-spirited.
  • Someone who leads primarily by developing others: equipping, training, and releasing people to use their gifts, rather than doing ministry alone. This is the central quality we are looking for.
  • A leader who can equip and inspire others toward maturity in Christ, committed to the biblical model of pastoral ministry as equipping the saints for works of service.
  • Able to work closely with the Senior Minister and the wider staff team.
  • Where gifted and appropriate, a Bible teacher who can contribute to the preaching ministry at our three Sunday services.

Key Responsibilities:

The specific areas you take responsibility for will be shaped around your gifting, and we are open to reshaping the wider staff team's portfolios to suit the combined gifts of the team.

You will take primary responsibility for two ministry areas, working with the Senior Minister to agree which areas best match your gifting. You will set vision for each area, equip and support ministry team leaders, and ensure those areas are healthy and growing. The areas of ministry life at Trinity are:

  • Worship: helping the church enjoy God and put him first in all of life, including Sunday gatherings and the rhythms of personal devotion.
  • Belonging: overseeing the integration of new members, strengthening community life, and ensuring people are known and cared for as the church grows.
  • Ministry: equipping the congregation for works of service, developing ministry team leaders, and moving the culture from rosters to genuine teams.
  • Mission: developing our intentionality and effectiveness in proclaiming Christ and reaching the lost in South Christchurch and beyond.
  • Trinity Kids: leading and resourcing our children's ministry, including developing a strong team of leaders.
  • Trinity Youth: leading and resourcing our youth ministry across junior and senior groups.
  • Maturity: growing people in knowing God through his word, including fellowship groups and the leader pipeline that sustains them. (This area is currently covered within the staff team and will not be a primary focus for this role.)

The role will include contributing to general pastoral care and leadership, including one-to-one ministry and care for individuals and families.

Stipend and Conditions:

The Stipend will be pegged to the CCAANZ clergy stipend policy. Trinity is committed to providing suitable housing for the Assistant Minister / Ministry Director and, where applicable, their family.

Staff at Trinity have five week’s annual leave per year.

Trinity is committed to the ongoing support and development of our ministry team through professional development and coaching.
