Your challenge as an Assistant Chaplain of The Mission to Seafarers, Sydney will be to work to further the spiritual, moral and physical well-being of seafarers in the context of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord.

As an Assistant Chaplain, you will be based at our Ministry Centre in Millers Point and will also minister on board vessels at Port Botany.

Your ministry will provide you with many varied cross-cultural ministry opportunities in which your initiative and spiritual gifts will be put to very good use!

The position is for four or five days per week and is open to ordained and lay persons.

Our ministry hours span 12:30pm to 11:00pm on any given day, but an Assistant Chaplain’s hours will average eight hours per day within that time-frame.

As church workers, Assistant Chaplains are subject to the standards of behaviour expressed in ‘Faithfulness in Service; A National Code for Personal Behaviour and the Practice of Pastoral Behaviour and the Practice of Pastoral Ministry by Clergy and Church Workers’ adopted in 2005 by the Diocese of Sydney Anglican Church of Australia.

Assistant Chaplains must be eligible to be issued with a Maritime Security Identification Card (see http://www.msic.net.au), which is essential for access to Port Terminals.

The stipend for Assistant Chaplains will be linked to that of a Senior Assistant Minister in the Diocese of Sydney, Anglican Church of Australia.

This is a multi-tasked ministry opportunity well worth your consideration.
