This year, Youthworks Publishing - under the imprints of Blue Bottle Books and Anglican Press Australia, has had four of a possible eight books shortlisted for the awards. These books are:

Bright lights, dark nights: The enduring faith of 13 remarkable Australians, by Simon Smart

Now that you are back: A journey through depression, by Richard Beeston

Take heart: For families living with disability, by Kate Hurley

Leadership on the front foot, by Zachary Veron

Please join me in congratulating these authors. It is a great accolade for the authors and a testament to the quality of the work produced by the Youthworks Publishing team working on Blue Bottle Books and APA. If you would like to see what all the fuss is about, you can click on the links above to read Sydneyanglicans.net’s reviews of these nominations.

The other nominees are:

Catherine’s gift: Inside the world of Dr Catherine Hamlin, by John Little (Pan Macmillan Australia)

No ordinary view: A season of faith and mission in the Himalayas, by Naomi Reed (Ark House Press)

Preach or perish: Reaching the hearts and minds of the world today, by Donald Howard (Donald and Nan Howard)

Refuge on the Roper: The origins of the Roper River Mission, Ngukurr, by Murray Seiffert (Acorn Press)

The official winners will be announced in August, however Sydneyanglicans.net sees the opportunity for a ‘People’s Choice’ award.

There is no financial gain at stake - we don’t want to undermine the real event! However if you would like to cast your own vote, feel free to do so below…

Leadership on the Front Foot - finally a book on Christian Leadership written by an Aussie with runs on the board (to continue the cricket analogy).

Not a problem.
Now that you are back - Great read, I have a family member fighting the black dog and this book told me a great deal just as we started to go through it. I did own several copies but they are all over the place now.

I also think the following are great books but this was personal.
Preach or perish
Leadership on the front foot
Take heart
