Welcome to the Senior Clergy page for the Dean of Sydney, Sandy Grant.
Canon Sandy Grant is the 13th Dean of Sydney.
He was installed as Dean of Sydney on Dec 9, 2021.
Sandy is husband to Karyn (a teacher of music and SRE), father of three adult daughters, walker of Maisy the Groodle, committee member (Standing Committee, Matthias Media Board, Domestic Violence Task Force, Social Issues Committee), reader (theology, biography, crime fiction), and runner. His only other job prior to training for ministry was in a bottle shop!
Sandy Grant previously served 17 years at the regional Cathedral of St Michael’s in Wollongong. Prior to that he served at semi-rural Kurrajong and multi-cultural St John’s Park.
He’s grateful to Sunday School teachers and youth leaders, who taught him the gospel and what it meant to follow Jesus many years ago.
Some of his public lecture topics have included William Wilberforce and the abolition of the slave trade; on the 500th anniversary of John Calvin's birth; on the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Version of the Bible and its influence; on defining and defending classic Christian marriage; and on the resurrection of Jesus and its evidence.
Some of Canon Grant’s public writing is here:
For Christians who missed the memo: the Bible abhors all domestic abuse
