St Thomas’ is a large, contemporary evangelical church situated on the edge of North Sydney’s CBD. We are a vibrant growing church with around 500 regular attendees on a Sunday - a wide range of ministries to people of all ages and a passion to reach the lost.
Our vision is to glorify our great and gracious God by knowing, loving and proclaiming Jesus. As part of this vision we are seeking an Assistant Minister (Youth) to lead our approximately 100+ teens and train and disciple our youth leaders in ministry. The person fulfilling this role will also have a church-wide portfolio to be determined based on gifts and current needs.

Central to the role
- Build on the existing strength of our youth ministry, known as “Lights”, to grow numerically and in maturity
- Train and disciple youth leaders in ministry at Lights, and beyond, to develop future leaders
- Teach the Scriptures
- Develop relationships with the seven local high schools to encourage Christian students and reach others
- Coordinate SRE at local high schools
- Have a passion for young people to come to know Christ and grow as followers of Jesus
- Develop and lead an additional church-wide portfolio effectively (e.g. Mission, Ministry, or Membership)
- Preaching
The Successful Candidate
- Has a minimum of 3 years of theological training (essential) and previous experience in youth ministry (desirable).
- Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the rationale and strategy for developing and maintaining a faithful and effective youth ministry over a period of time
- Is committed to growing in their own love for Christ and his people
- Is committed to St Thomas’ theological convictions, vision, and mission
- Has strong communication (verbal and written) skills
- Has strong interpersonal and relational skills
- Is an excellent team player
- Is able to use Elvanto database or is willing to learn
Key Relationships
This role will report directly to the Senior Minister.
Start Date
January 2025 or as agreed.
Compensation
Stipend/salary will be according to Sydney Diocesan recommendations based on qualifications and experience. Housing or housing allowance will be provided.
