Children’s and Youth Worker
Location: The Oaks, NSW
Date advertised: 15th April 2018
Job Type: Part time
Closing Date: 31st May 2018
The Anglican Parish of The Oaks is located on the edge of the South-west growth sector, approximately 15 minutes west from Camden, and one hour from the City of Sydney. The Parish is within the Wollondilly Shire and is surrounded by National Park and the Sydney Water catchment area (Lake Burragorang).
The Parish is situated in a largely rural setting with two main population centres, The Oaks and Oakdale. Given our proximity to the South-West growth corridor the district is experiencing its own growth with new sub-divisions having recently opened and more planned for the future.
The Children’s and Youth Worker will be employed on a two days per week basis and be responsible for the existing young people’s groups operating within the parish which meet on Wednesday afternoons and evenings at St Luke’s:
- ‘Catch4Kids’ is an after-school Kids Club for children aged from K to Year 6
- ‘The Catch’ is a youth group for high school aged young people from year 7-12
The successful applicant will be responsible for the organisation, administration, coordination and weekly running of the programs, assisted by a team of volunteer helpers.
There is a strong focus on outreach to families in the community through these ministries and a clear emphasis on ensuring the Gospel is proclaimed.
The role of Children’s and Youth Worker will also require the successful applicant to be part of the team that teaches SRE at The Oaks and Oakdale schools on Tuesday mornings.
The commencement date of the position is Term 1 2019, though an earlier start date of Term 4 2018 would also be favourably considered. Initial appointment will be for a period of one year.
Applications close on 31st May 2018.
References should be included with your application including one from your current minister.
