About the Role
Living Water Church is seeking a passionate, culturally sensitive, and gospel-hearted Families and Children’s Community Pastor to join our ministry team. This vital role focuses on building relationships within the Indigenous and wider Redfern community — particularly with women, children, and families— to grow the body of Christ in both depth and number.
You’ll work alongside a dedicated team, including the Evangelist and Youth/Men’s Pastor, and support existing and new ministry opportunities through discipleship, pastoral care and children’s ministry oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Build trust and gospel-centred relationships with women, children, and families in the community.
- Disciple individuals or coordinate volunteers to support new believers and seekers.
- Oversee and develop culturally appropriate children’s ministry, engaging and equipping Indigenous leaders from the community.
- Establish and coordinate a practical, compassionate pastoral care process for the church.
- Ensure safe ministry compliance, including WWCC and volunteer training.
About You
You are a female Christian leader with a deep love for Jesus and a heart for cross-cultural ministry with proven acceptance in the Indigenous Community. You thrive in relational ministry and are resilient, adaptable, and humble. You’ll bring both practical and spiritual care to those in need and build culturally relevant gospel initiatives in a diverse community.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- A committed, regular member of Living Water Church
- Experience working in an Indigenous cultural environment as a Christian
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and community acceptance
- Proven experience in Christian ministry and discipleship
- Completion of Safe Ministry Training and current WWCC
- A lifestyle and character consistent with Reformed Evangelical values
Desirable
- Formal Theological/Bible College training such as a Diploma in Theology
- Demonstrable capacity and experience to mentor, coach, disciple individuals
Key Skills
- Evidence of godly character including humility, accurate self-awareness and teachability
- Excellent relational and cross-cultural communication
- Ability to teach and disciple from God’s word
- Organised, resilient, and detail-oriented
- Skilled in conflict resolution and pastoral sensitivity
