Assistant Minister

Holy Trinity Anglican Church
Location: Dubbo, NSW
Date advertised: 10th May 2024
Job Type: Part time
Closing Date: 30 June 2024

Holy Trinity Anglican Parish in Dubbo exists to know Jesus and make Him known, aligning with our diocesan mission of Sharing Jesus for life. It is a medium-sized parish with multiple and varied services each week, supported by key discipleship ministries and several community-related outreach initiatives. The parish has significant historical significance in the city of Dubbo with the beautiful sandstone building centrally located and featuring prominently in the lives of many locals.

With the recent appointment of a new Rector, the parish is entering a new season. This season confirms and continues a Word-based foundation for all parish ministry.

Responsibilities include:

  • coordinating and helping with all youth and children’s ministry programs.
This will include maintaining program content, developing ministry helpers, discipling and pastorally caring for program participants, and ensuring these ministry areas align with parish priorities.
  • some service leading and preaching.
  • supporting community-related pastoral ministry including funerals and visitation.

Applicants will have:

  • a committed, evident and tested faith in and personal relationship with the risen Lord Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
  • a demonstrated personal commitment to spreading the Gospel.
  • current holy orders as deacon or priest, or be on a trajectory towards ordination.
  • the ability to comply with all diocesan Safe Ministry requirements.
  • previous experience with, and a passion for, church ministry programs to youth and children.
  • effective written and verbal communication skills, able to build and develop pastoral relationships with people from different demographics and backgrounds.
  • completed (or be progressing towards completing) a Bachelor of Theology or equivalent from a college deemed suitable by the Bishop.
  • alignment with a “classical Anglican” expression of the Christian faith, incorporating an understanding of Anglican distinctives and a commitment to uphold them.
  • suitable experience in expository preaching, and preparing and leading traditional and contemporary church services.
  • an appreciation of both parish and diocesan historical contexts.

Initially, the role will be remunerated with a part-time stipend of 3 days per week. There is scope for the incumbent to also pursue paid ministry in local SRE and / or school chaplaincy opportunities, to complement the part-time nature of their parish responsibilities.

To apply, contact Andrew Thornhill at rector@dubboanglicanchurch.org or on 0418 944 506. A detailed position description can be provided at this point.
