A rare opportunity to implement and manage a new, full-time programme for women experiencing domestic violence.

You are a female*, senior level social worker, passionate about empowering women to move from crisis to sustainability. You have significant experience working with women in crisis situations, and can confidently lead a team of volunteers and collaborate with other service providers.

The role

  • Establish the Women’s Space drop in café for women who have experienced domestic violence
  • Manage the provision of case work, group work and other support services to clients, maintaining a full client caseload to meet program targets
  • Track client progress using recognised metrics such as circle of courage or personal wellbeing index
  • Supervise volunteers to ensure the service is welcoming, efficient and effective
  • Deliver an integrated client service by liaising with key community partners and referring clients to other appropriate services
  • Establish and maintain best practice client documentation and statistical data to meet organisational, legislative and funding reporting requirements
  • Contribute to the Christian ethos of St John’s Community Services through identifying spiritual needs of clients and volunteers, leading others in prayer and writing prayer newsletters to members and supporters
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a safe workplace

Education and Experience 

  • Masters of Social Work, or equivalent qualifications
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake the range of activities required, including supervision of others
  • Computer literacy & administrative abilities
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to network and establish positive relationships with a diverse range of people
  • Experience working with disadvantaged groups including families, parents, children and young people is desirable

This role is a full-time position, available for an initial 6 month period, with a view to a permanent role subject to the successful establishment of the service. Remuneration will be in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.
