Who we are
St James Berala exists to make and grow followers of Jesus for God’s honour and glory.
We are a small but growing church in Berala, a greatly multicultural area at the beginning of South West Sydney. By God’s grace, over the last 10 years we have grown from about 50 attending on a Sunday to just over 160. We have a vibrant and growing kids and youth ministry and many exciting opportunities to share the news of Jesus with our area with people from many different nations, cultures and backgrounds.
Many who live in our area come from a Chinese background. We have a small but growing Chinese fellowship in our church and we would love your help reaching them and others in our area.
Who we are looking for
We are searching for a male or female part-time worker to help us with our Chinese ministry. We are looking for someone who loves Jesus and is passionate about seeing people become and grow as followers of Jesus.
The right candidate will help disciple those in our church who are from a Chinese background. This includes both first and second generation immigrants.
The position is a part-time position of 1-2 days per week. The position is suitable for a student minister or someone who is interested in part time Chinese ministry.
Areas of responsibility:
Growing followers of Jesus in our church who are from a Chinese background
Mobilising, engaging, training and equipping members of our church to share the gospel with people from a Chinese background.
The successful applicant will be someone who is:
- A mature and godly disciple of Jesus
- Reformed and evangelical in conviction.
- Has a passion for Chinese Ministry.
- Able to work with first and second generation Chinese immigrants, both younger and older.
Desirable:
- Has experience in ministry to people from Chinese backgrounds.
- Able to speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese
Funding and Remuneration
This part-time position is fully funded for two years. The position is part time with remuneration and benefits as articulated in the Sydney Anglican Diocese Remuneration Guidelines.
