Our Vision
At St John’s Camden, we long to see more people in Camden belong to our church community, believe in Jesus as Lord, and become all he calls them to be. By God’s grace, we’ve welcomed many new people in recent years—especially in the past few months—and are preparing to plant a new congregation in early 2026 to reach the growing number of young families in our area.
Within 10 minutes of our church, there are over 44,000 people—many of whom have never heard the gospel. The largest demographic is families with children under 13, and the median age is well below the state and national average. Camden is part of a rapidly expanding and changing region, with a unique gospel opportunity before us.
The Role
We’re seeking a full-time, experienced, and ordained Anglican minister to join our team and help grow the work of God’s kingdom in Camden. While we are flexible and can shape the role to suit the right candidate’s strengths, the core responsibilities are likely to include:
- Oversight of Sunday Services (Magnification portfolio) – including leadership of service planning and potentially playing a key role in music ministry
- Leadership of Youth Ministry – overseeing youth discipleship and outreach
- Preaching and Pastoral Duties – including regular Sunday preaching and the conduct of weddings and funerals (a significant part of ministry in our historic church)
Key Responsibilities
Each minister at St John’s is entrusted with a ministry area and expected to develop its fruitfulness and effectiveness, building teams that multiply ministry and raise up leaders. Whether your primary focus is magnification, youth, or another area, you’ll take initiative in:
- Leading and growing your ministry portfolio
- Equipping volunteers and developing leaders
- Collaborating closely with the wider staff team in shared gospel work
About You
We are looking for a godly, humble, and prayerful man who delights in preaching God’s Word and serving his people. You will:
- Be ordained in the Anglican Church (preferably in the Diocese of Sydney) or working towards ordination
- Have experience in local church ministry, with a passion for gospel growth
- Demonstrate high emotional intelligence (EQ), and be well-organised and detail-oriented
- Be a strong communicator, a team player, and a self-starter
- Have a deep love for people and a desire to see them grow in their faith
Desirable Attributes
- Experience leading music or magnification ministries
- A track record of effective youth ministry leadership
- Willingness to serve in a dynamic, growing team environment
