Anglican Deaconess Ministries invites applications for the role of Chaplain. This position is part-time.
The work of ADM is focused on seeing every woman equipped and engaged in serving Christ in the Church, the community and the world. Since 1891, ADM has equipped and encouraged women for gospel work, particularly serving the marginalised and vulnerable. The deaconesses are a significant part of the ADM legacy.
As Chaplain, you will provide pastoral care, prayer and practical care for elderly ADM deaconesses and retired female clergy. We are looking for a mature Christian, who is servant-hearted and other-centred, with a passion for pastoral care and the gospel. The successful candidate will be ordained within Sydney Diocese or someone who is a communicant member of the Anglican church with experience in Anglican ministry. Relevant training in pastoral care and theology is essential.
- Conducting regular visits, phone calls and emails with elderly deaconesses and retired female clergy primarily across Sydney Diocese, providing prayer, pastoral and practical care.
- Providing regular advice to ADM on the financial and other needs of the women.
- Effectively triaging the pastoral care load in relation to individual circumstances, available support structures, and the scope of the role.
- Being involved with funeral services as required.
