Children and Families Minister

St Mark's Anglican Church Berowra
Location: Berowra, NSW
Location type: On-Site
Date advertised: 8th July 2026
Job Type: Part time
Closing Date: 5th August 2026

Help build our growing community of lives changed by and for Jesus

St Mark's Anglican Church Berowra is seeking a children and families minister to join our ministry team. St Mark's is an evangelical church on Sydney's Upper North Shore.

We're keen to be a growing family of Jesus' disciples, deeply rooted in God's Word, loving God through transformed hearts and minds, living in honest community, joyfully serving each other, and actively partnering in God's mission to seek and save the lost.

The parish of Berowra (which includes the suburbs of Berowra, Berowra Heights, Berowra Waters, Cowan and Brooklyn) contains seven local primary schools. We believe children are a vital part of God's people, both for today and for the future. We want to see children come to know and trust Jesus, grow as his disciples, and be equipped to live for him throughout their lives. We are committed to equipping Christian parents and carers to embrace their unique responsibilities of helping their own children grow as disciples of Jesus.

The role

Working alongside the ministry staff and other leaders, you will provide key leadership to ministry among children, young leaders and families.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading and developing our Sunday morning and Friday afternoon children's ministry.
  • Recruiting, training, and encouraging a growing team of leaders.
  • Building strong relationships with parents and families.
  • Partnering with parents and carers in the discipleship of their children.
  • Helping develop and support clear pathways for children to grow as disciples of Jesus through the different stages of childhood.
  • Being an active member of our Sunday evening congregation (the same congregation as most of our young leaders).
  • Contributing to the wider mission and ministry of St Mark's.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking someone who

  • Loves Jesus and seeks to live and grow as his disciple each day.
  • Is committed to the authority of Scripture and the proclamation of the gospel.
  • Has a heart for children, young leaders and families.
  • Can lead and develop other leaders effectively.
  • Is relational, organised, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Has experience in children and families ministry, teaching the Bible to children, or a related ministry area.
  • Formal theological training is desirable.

What we hope you will find at St Mark's Berowra.

St Mark's is a diverse community, with a range of demographic and socio-economic backgrounds represented. We have had a strong, long-term presence in the Berowra community and surrounding suburbs for over 120 years, an area with a strong sense of local community.

We seek to be a warm, growing, and mission-minded church with a strong commitment to expository Bible teaching, disciple-making, and team-based ministry.

We are seeking to build a community of mature disciples of Jesus in ever-increasing numbers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to invest in the next generation and help children and families encounter the life-changing news of Jesus.
