Justice - Women's Dillwynia Correctional Centre - Compassionate Chaplaincy

We are seeking a caring and Christ centred Chaplain competent in pastoral ministry, compelled to make a difference in our Justice and Correctional Centre.

Dillwynia Correction Centre is a minimum and medium security facility for females, located 5 km from South of Windsor.

This extremely rewarding position provides an opportunity to offer emotional and pastoral support to prison inmates of all backgrounds and beliefs, as well as prison staff and the family and friends of prison inmates.

About the role:

This is a Permanent part-time position based at Dillwynia Women’s Correctional Centre, Berkshire Park and reports to the Justice & Health Chaplaincy Manager at Anglicare.

In this role you will have the opportunity to communicate the Christian message clearly through conversations, bible study and chapel services.

Building supportive relationships with other Correctional Services Chaplains of other denominations and faiths will be an important aspect of this role. It is also encouraged to foster relationships with our local churches and Christian ministry organisations. You will be well supported in this position by the Justice & Health Chaplaincy Manager and will be part of the Justice Chaplaincy team at Anglicare.

Skills & experience:

  • Completed theological studies (Degree or Diploma course).
  • Eligible to hold a license issued by the Anglican Archbishop of the Sydney Diocese.
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental and caring pastoral skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate and teach the Bible.
  • Completed APC or CPE course (required to be completed in the first 12 months of employment if not yet completed).
  • Proven experience in ministry and compassionate pastoral care.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.

You must be able to pass all Corrective services security checks and meet the requirements to be licensed by the Archbishop for ministry in the Diocese of Sydney.
