This role is an exciting opportunity to head up a successful Anglican Non-profit organisation providing state-wide Chaplaincy services to Tasmania’s 4 major public hospitals, the Prison service and support collaborations with Fostering Hope, Prison Fellowship and Chaplains working in Remand and Aged Care facilities.

Anglican Health & Welfare (AHW) is a Tasmanian charity committed to showing God’s love by helping the isolated and disadvantaged through professional chaplaincy, disaster relief and church led community building projects.

The EO will build on the current work of Chaplaincy across Tasmania, expanding the work of AHW, developing new partnerships, fundraising opportunities and contracts for service in Tasmania.

The Executive Officer will also have responsibility in continuing the merger of AHW and Clarendon Children’s Foundation.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, nonprofit management, social sciences, theology).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in executive leadership roles within nonprofit organizations, preferably in the health or welfare sector.
  • Proven capacity to provide financial oversight
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, organizational development, partnership building, and the place of the for-purpose sector in advancing social policy objectives.
  • Strong understanding of government relations, contract management, quality assurance, and funding mechanisms for nonprofit organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, and stakeholders toward common goals.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and principles of Anglican Health and Welfare and the Christian faith.

Anglican Health & Welfare is a child safe organisation. The successful applicant will be required to undertake Childsafe or Safeguarding Children screening and training.

  • Safe Church Communities endorsement at a coordinator level
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Working with Vulnerable People registration
  • Faithfulness in Service accreditation
  • Current Australian Drivers License
  • Additional reasonable hours may be required by arrangement.
