Financial Capability Practice Lead

About Food and Financial Assistance:
Anglicare’s Food and Financial Assistance (FFA) programs provide community pantries, material aid, financial capability, financial counselling and no-interest loans to people impacted by financial hardship. We aim to be capability-focused and community-centred, walking side by side with each person seeking our support.
About the Role:
Anglicare has an exciting new opportunity for a Financial Capability Practice Lead to join our FFA Leadership Team.
Working alongside managers and senior staff in each FFA team, this role is about fostering growth and best practice in financial capability work across all areas.
You will lead the development of practice guidelines, contribute significantly to program design and evaluation, and connect with peak bodies and other agencies. You will focus on coaching, mentoring and supervision of frontline staff, while still working with a small number of clients yourself. As need requires, you may have line management responsibility for a small number of staff.
You will work closely with FFA Leadership Team colleagues to build a strong team culture and drive our financial capability work in line with Anglicare’s vision, values and strategy, especially in church and community settings.
This role requires you to work from multiple locations – primarily based in office/community locations, with scope for a small amount of remote/flexible work around operational need.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Develop and grow our understanding of best practice in Financial Capability work.
- Connect with peak bodies, funding bodies and service providers to grow Anglicare’s contribution to sector learning and initiatives, cultivating a positive reputation for Anglicare and ensuring our voice is heard.
- Lead and contribute to projects aligned with Anglicare’s strategy in financial capability in close collaboration with Head of FFA and Senior Program Managers.
- Lead the development and review of practice guides, procedures and resources for financial capability work .
- Lead and contribute to program design, evaluation and impact measurement initiatives, especially with regard to client and community co-design
- Work in collaboration with Senior Program Managers to foster consistency across FFA teams, through provision of professional supervision, coaching, and involvement in client work.
- Support caseworkers across teams in by providing training, advice and mentoring, especially for complex and high needs clients
- Maintain a small caseload of community-based financial capability clients
About You:
- Alignment with Anglicare’s vision, mission and values
- Degree in Social Work and accredited member of AASW or similar
- Demonstrated experience (2+ years) in a senior social work / case management role leading and mentoring other staff and achieving strong outcomes for vulnerable clients
- Significant experience (4+ years) working in financial capability (or closely related field), including working with clients in community settings
- Excellent people skills – ability to connect with, understand and interact positively with colleagues, clients and community
- Expertise in theory and practice of financial capability and short-medium term casework
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Desirable: experience in community engagement and/or delivering services in partnership with churches
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
- Valid Working with Children Check for paid employment
