Full-Time Children’s & Youth Minister

Gerringong Anglican Church is a vibrant and outward-looking church, an hour and a half south of Sydney, on the beautiful NSW south coast.

We are seeking a suitably gifted and qualified person to join our ministry team. This is an exciting full-time role, that will seek to build on the current ministry to young people in our church and local area.

This role involves

Co-ordination and leadership of the church’s Children’s Ministry

Oversight of the church’s Youth Ministry

The raising up, training and support of the Children & Youth Ministry leaders

The integration of these ministries into the life of the church

Training and experience in Children & Youth Ministries, as well as team leadership are essential.

Job Description

This position is responsible for the overall spiritual oversight of the Children’s & Youth Ministries in the Parish.

The successful applicant is to strive through godly example and faithful teaching to encourage the growth of all those under his/her care and to seek to raise up, support and encourage godly leaders.

Duties

In order to fulfil the job description, the successful applicant will need to be involved in the following areas:

Co-ordinating & leading the Sunday morning children’s program

Joining the leadership team for our Friday night church youth group (years 7-12). This will include the training and support of the current leadership team

Building a team to start a weekly afternoon program for Primary aged children

Building a team to start a holiday program for children

Supporting the team that runs our “Junior Jivers” preschool program

Setting up a system of leadership development

Pastoral Care of the Young Adults in the Parish

Service leading & possible preaching at our evening service (depending on the candidate)

Attending Staff meetings

Other related duties as from time to time directed by the Rector

The successful applicant must also provide a current WWCC & have completed, or undertake to complete, the Sydney Anglican Diocese Safe Ministry Training.
