Date advertised: 15th September 2022
Job Type: Full time
Closing Date: 15th October 2022
Are you passionate about helping people grow as followers of Jesus?
Do you have a heart for the gospel for all nations?
Have you got a desire to grow people in ministry?
We’d love you to join us in our ministry!
WSCCC is an evangelical independent church spread across 7 services, conducted in 3 languages (English, Mandarin and Cantonese), held in 2 locations in the inner western suburbs of Sydney. There are currently 8 pastors, a youth pastor, 2 children ministry coordinator positions, and an administrative assistant on staff.
Strathfield English has two Sunday services - 9am and 4:30pm. We are a growing, energetic, multicultural, crossgenerational congregation of about 210 people (about 150 at 9am and 60 at 4.30pm). We seek to maintain a tradition of strong Biblical teaching through our Sunday services as well as our associated ministries. Our congregation has a culture of being committed to serving and training in ministry.
Our outreach is both local and global. Although part of a Chinese church we are open to people of all backgrounds and in touch with contemporary Australian society.
The English Pastor is a member of the pastoral team of the whole church: working closely with the English congregations’ pastoral team but also working with the pastors of other language congregations.
The English Pastor is also a member of the Diaconate (which consists of the Deacons and Pastoral Team).
The applicant we are seeking should have a Biblical vision for growing God’s kingdom globally. You should have a theology degree from a recognised Bible or Theological College, hold an evangelical perspective, have a pastoral heart, possess spiritual and relational maturity and be able to work in a ministry team.
It is also vital that the applicant can work collaboratively, as they will be working with other ministers as part of the English congregations’ pastoral team, as well as with the pastors of other language congregations, and the Diaconate.
You must be willing to work in an independent congregational church structure. Cross–cultural understanding or experience within the contemporary Australian culture is important, particularly Australian-born Chinese. However, the applicant need not be of Asian background.
