The Position:
Are you passionate about inspiring and discipling young people in their faith journey? At St Marks we are looking for a dedicated, humble and enthusiastic Youth Pastor to join our team as we enter a new chapter in youth ministry. Someone with a fresh vision and purpose to reach and support tweens and teens in our church and local area for Jesus.
Key Responsibilities:
Youth Ministry
- Leadership, vision and direction of our youth group on Friday nights seeking to engage and reach local teenagers with the gospel.
- Oversee the discipleship of young people in years 5-8 on Sunday morning as part of our 9:45am service with a creative and engaging program.
- To recruit, love, mentor and mobilise our youth leaders, working in collaboration with them to see many teenagers’ lives transformed by Jesus.
- Working with Parents, Safe Ministry Rep and Admin support to create a safe, warm and welcoming community.
Time Commitment
This is a part-time position, 1.5 days to 2 days per week, starting in January 2025. The role would require working on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings during school term time.
Note: As youth ministry grows, we want this role to expand with that growth, ideally moving to a full-time position one day. Open to Student Ministers applying.
Potential additional opportunities (Depending on the candidate):
- Collaborate with the ministry team to plan and organise special events, weekends away and Sundays.
- Teach a Year 6 scripture class at Harbord Public School.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A genuine and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as demonstrated through character, lifestyle and convictions.
- A degree/diploma (or currently enrolled) in theology and demonstrated commitment to Reformed Evangelical Christian values.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, able to empower others with their gifts, a self-starter and can have fun.
- Skilled and passionate in youth ministry.
