St Mark’s Darling Point is a vibrant, growing, gospel-centred church in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. We are committed to worship that is biblically rich, spiritually warm, and musically excellent. As part of our long-term vision to be a centre for outstanding church music of all kinds, we are seeking to appoint a Contemporary Music Minister to oversee and grow contemporary worship across our 10am and 5:30pm services.

About the Role

We are looking for a gifted, collaborative, and spiritually mature leader who loves helping God’s people lift their hearts and voices in praise. The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of contemporary Christian music, skill in leading musicians, and a heart for developing others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curate, plan, and arrange the music for the 10am and 5:30pm services each week.
  • Lead musical worship (vocally and/or instrumentally).
  • Recruit, pastorally support, and develop teams of musicians and singers.
  • Rehearse and prepare bands with attention to musicality, excellence, and accessibility for the congregation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Rector, service leaders, and Director of Music (Choral) to integrate contemporary music into the broader worship life of St Mark’s.
  • Coordinate rosters and oversee the organisation of musicians.
  • Contribute to the long-term development of contemporary music ministry at St Mark’s.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Demonstrated musical proficiency and experience leading contemporary worship.
  • A mature Christian faith and commitment to the vision and ministry of St Mark’s.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to grow and shepherd volunteer teams.
  • Organisational skills and reliability in week-to-week planning.

Terms

This is a part-time role with hours and remuneration commensurate with experience (likely 10–15 hours/week). Payment can be made by contract or as a casual arrangement. A full position description is available on request.
