Children’s and Youth Minister :- we are looking for a person who will disciple children and youth to follow Jesus and become integrated within the life of our church family. The position provides many opportunities to teach our young people through SRE, kid’s club and youth group and involvement of the young people in the 5pm evening service. The position requires you to be a team player where there is opportunity to take initiative and work collaboratively with others.
The person will work with and be supported by the Rector and another student minister and volunteers to both strengthen faith amongst our church family children and also build bridges to unchurched families and help them come to know Jesus. The role also provides pastoral opportunities to connect to families both within the Parish and outside.
Responsibilities
Lead and co-ordinate a team of volunteers for Kids church which meets during the 10am Sunday service.
Teach SRE at primary school level and an opportunity to join an existing SRE team at a local High school
Lead and manage an existing afterschool kids club
Be a team member of a youth group run in partnership with another Anglican Church
Develop relationships of trust with parents
Ensure that the team including all aspects of children and youth ministry complies with Safe Ministry requirements
Be a vital member and contributor to our 5pm congregation which seeks to integrate youth and young adults. Opportunity for exercising various roles at the 5pm service depending on gifts
Attend a weekly staff meeting and report to the Rector
Character and Skills
Prayerful and a growing faith in Jesus
Teachable and a desire to develop skills in teaching the BIble to and discipling young people
A willlingness to develop skills in working graciously with all ages and setting realistic and sustainable goals of what can be achieved and what people can cope with.
A caring disposition and a desire to exercise pastoral care and support for all ages
Expectations
Complete a police check and be up to date with Safe Ministry training (Anglican)
Theological qualifications either completed or being pursued
Ministry experience with children and youth and an ability to build healthy relationships with parents and other church members and unchurched people.
The position is 3 days per week and available for a start date in January 2025
Days of work
The role requires involvement being available on Thursday, Friday afternoon/evening and Sunday.
