Ministry goals: 

  1. To coordinate, lead and grow Children’s ministry (preschool to year 6) through the following avenues -
    1. Sunday morning children’s ministry during our 9:30am church service;
    2. School scripture teaching Wednesday mornings;
    3. St. Nics’ Christian Preschool.
  2. To teach children from the Bible.
  3. To teach children to pray.
  4. To lead children in an age-appropriate manner to express faith in Christ.
  5. To grow the average numbers of children regularly attending Sunday service, as the Lord grants.
  6. To identify and engage volunteer leaders and helpers for this ministry.

Strategies & Responsibilities:

  1. Ministry to be based upon prayer.
  2. Sunday mornings - Approximate time allocation, including preparation is 5-6 hours per week.
    1. Lead all aspects of this ministry for teaching, programming, volunteer rosters, implementing, publicity, administration and reporting to the Rector.
    2. Arrange and implement teaching curriculum for each age group, in cooperation with Rector, including ordering materials, and record keeping or attendance and permission slips.
    3. Welcome families and children as they arrive at church;
    4. Setup and pack-up teaching spaces in cooperation with other teachers and helpers; 
    5. Teach;
    6. Liaise with parents.
  3. School Scripture - Approximate time allocation, including preparation is 4-6 hours per week.
    1. Teach SRE at Coogee Public School, currently Wednesday mornings.
    2. School Scripture Coordinator
  4. St. Nics’ Christian Preschool - Approximate time allocation, including preparation is 10-12 hours per week.
    1. On Thursdays or Fridays spend time in our on-site preschool, teaching some Bible lessons, and building relationships with children and parents.
  5. Encourage children into Bible reading and prayer at home through the provision of appropriate resources.

  1. Prayerful & Biblically formed life, with an established faith in Jesus Christ.
  2. A strong desire & ability to teach children from the Bible about faith in Jesus.
  3. Ability to lead through organising and administering the ministry, including motivating and managing volunteers.
  4. Ability to relate to parents.
  5. Be a member of this church community.
  6. Assent to the beliefs of the Anglican Church.

Qualifications: 

  1. Experience with this age group.
  2. Diploma in children’s ministry.
  3. Opportunities for training courses through Anglican Youthworks will be given.
  4. Current Working With Children Check for paid employment.
  5. Archbishop’s Authority

Additional agreements

Time commitment: 

  1. As above, total 24 hours per week spread over Wednesday and Sunday and one other day or two half days;
  2. Training courses as agreed from time to time.

Length of assignment:  

  1. For 24 months with the option to extend.  
  2. Commencement February 2020.

Training and development: 

  1. Child Protection training.
  2. Regular meetings with Rector, then reviews of program each term. 

Payment:

  1.   Above Diocesan Standards.
