About Barneys
Barneys is a church in the inner city of Sydney with a history of effective evangelism and ministry to tertiary students and internationals, as well as to inner city professionals and families. We have growing children’s and youth ministries. Our church is characterised by people living far from their families of origin, and so we seek to be a family far from home. A large number of our members are from overseas, especially East and South East Asia.
About the role
The Assistant Minister will join the senior staff team and contribute across the life of the church. In addition, she will focus on oversight of either our ministry to new university students, or on pastoral care, depending on gifts and interests. The Assistant Minister will also be responsible for championing and driving the cause of raising up godly, biblically-based and Christ-centred leaders among young women in our church community.
Remuneration is in accordance with Diocesan guidelines, based on experience and qualifications.
About you
The successful applicant will be a committed evangelical Christian, Reformed in accordance with the Thirty Nine Articles, a humble leader, pastorally warm, hardworking, faithful to the gospel and most likely already fruitful in a similar role. She may be ordained as a deacon, or be a lay minister in a parish or campus context.
You will possess:
- Theological accreditation at a minimum of BTh level, and high level biblical & theological skills
- A demonstrated ability to teach & engage with nuance & conviction on biblical, theological, ethical & apologetic issues both orally and in writing
- A track record of discipling, recruiting & training younger women, including attracting some into lifelong vocational ministry
- Competency in the development of systems & leadership teams that will multiply overall discipleship capacity
You must also be eligible to be licensed or authorised for parish ministry by the Archbishop of Sydney.
Other ministry tasks will be determined according to gifts, interests and experience.
Applications with CV and the contact details of three referees should be sent to office@barneys.org.au or to Rev Mike Paget, 57-61 Mountain St, Broadway NSW 2007.
