Position: Special Religious Education (SRE) Teacher, Coogee Public School 

Ministry goals: 

  1. To teach school scripture at Coogee Public School. 
  2. To teach the children how to pray.
  3. Within the scope of the curriculum, to encourage the children to draw closer to Jesus by faith.
  4. When appropriate, encourage the children to connect with their local church (St. Nic’s if they live in Coogee).

Strategies:

  1. Ministry to be based upon profound prayer.
  2. To teach the nominated Kindergarten and Year 2 Primary classes.
  3. To only use the authorised Anglican Diocese SRE curriculum “Connect.”

Personal qualities

Desired spiritual gifts: Teaching, Evangelism.

Skills and interests: 

  1. Prayerful & Biblically formed life, with an established faith in Jesus Christ.
  2. Desire to impart knowledge about Jesus and the Bible to young people.
  3. Assent to the beliefs of the Anglican Church regarding child baptism.

Qualifications: 

  1. General Bible knowledge.
  2. Safe Ministry Training completed.
  3. WWCC clearance.
  4. SRE Engagement form completed.
  5. SRE Accreditation training completed.

  1. Children within the nominated Anglican Scripture classes.

Responsible to:

  1. The Rector, Rev. Craig Segaert

Works closely with: 

  1. Other teachers of Anglican SRE.
  2. Assistant Principals at Coogee Public School.

Additional agreements

Time commitment: 

  1. Arrival on site at CPS ready for teaching times, currently Wednesday mornings
    1. Infants - 11:30 - 12:00 midday.
    2. Primary - 12:05-12:35 pm
  2. Associated lesson preparation time (estimated about 2 hours)
  3. Regular debriefing with Rector after lessons.

Length of assignment:  

  1. Commencing Term 1 2019.  
  2. Ongoing after probation period.

Training and development: 

  1. Lesson appraisal.

Payment: 

  1. $104 per week for two lessons.
