This position is a job share role between School Ministry at Ryde Secondary College (3 days) and youth Ministry at St John's North Ryde (3 days).
St John's Anglican church is located within the growing Macquarie Park growth precinct. Government predicts an addition 8,500 school students within the suburb in next 15 years.
St John's has a growing outreach to youth and young adults. This includes a Holiday Children’s program led by a team of 100 teenage volunteers running a program for 240 infants and primary children.
Weekly we have 100 K-6 students attending our children’s kids club co-ordinated by a team of 20 adults and trainee leaders. Our Friday evening youth group Anchor has 5 leaders and growing attendance.
The youth pastor role will include partnership with our current youth pastor, Sarah Robertson, along with assisting teams in co-ordinating Friday afternoon ministries, Sunday Discipleship groups and assist with planning, ministry and follow up of our evening 5pm Church service. St John’s partners with LiT, KYCK, crusaders and youth works. The youth pastor days are Sunday, Monday and Friday afternoon.
The ministry at Ryde Secondary college (RACE Scripture) has been growing over recent years. We are privileged to now work with years 7-10 in an opt in basis, and partner with a lunch time RICE group.
There is a long history of a successful job share arrangement. Applicants are encouraged to contact Simon Holmes, our former minister and RACE SRE co-ordinator, now in Perth (0415 169 831). The RACE board is open to all local churches, and St John's North Ryde and St Anne’s Ryde are the main contributors. The RACE team has one paid worker and a number of volunteers working in partnership together. The RACE days will be Wed, Thu &Friday morning.
The salary and conditions have been packaged to reflect a full time Diocesan package. This may include provision of a 2 bedroom home at 17 Kokoda St North Ryde. Tuesday is the fixed day off.
Position subject to approval by Generate NSW. Expected applicants will have a theological degree, at least 1 year experience of Secondary SRE.
