The role of the Magnification Director is to enable people to delight in God when gathered and during the week. This will involve creating weekly church gatherings that help build wholehearted disciples of Jesus and encouraging patterns of worship outside the gathering. The Magnification Director has responsibility for most of the elements in our gatherings and the way they work together to help people engage with and grow deeply in their relationship with God. Key to this role is coordinating and empowering teams to provide high quality congregational music and excellent audio and visual presentation, so those who gather for church have the opportunity for effective engagement with the word of God. 

Key Responsibilities

The Magnification Director’s key responsibilities are:

  • Oversee and help plan all our weekly gatherings in collaboration with the congregational leadership teams and various magnification teams, giving ongoing consideration to liturgical, creative and response elements. This includes ensuring the necessary administration for weekly gatherings is executed effectively including our responsibility to CCLI.
  • Recruit, develop, train and care for volunteers as they lead across the different areas of magnification as MCs, team leaders, musicians, vocalists and audio/visual production leaders and technicians. 
  • Work with Music Team Leaders to provide music that supports the shape of the gathering and the sermon. Our expectation is that you would be regularly playing music in our gatherings. 
  • Oversee and help plan our special event gatherings (incl Christmas, Easter etc) 
  • Manage the auditorium space and advocate for the maintenance and improvement of technology and equipment.
  • Collaborate with and support the Youth Magnification team.
  • Provide vision and resources for church members to continue to delight in God throughout their week.  

More specific and detailed responsibilities and measurable outcomes will be worked out with the preferred candidate. Ongoing attention to personal Christian growth, ministry development, professional standards and WHS responsibilities are expected and encouraged in all members of our team.  

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates for this position will have:

  • A clear commitment to Jesus and growing as a disciple
  • A theologically driven understanding of how to build wholehearted disciples through church gatherings and music. 
  • Significant experience leading teams, and empowering and developing others to serve
  • Energy to be a self motivated self starter with strong management and administrative skills
  • A commitment to creatively drawing on church liturgical forms, modern and ancient to enable church members to engage with God deeply.
  • Experience serving on a music team with musical ability that can be exercised humbly to grow teams and help church members delight in God
  • A willingness to take risks and learn from both mistakes and success

Ideally, candidates will have:

  • A theological qualification.
  • Experience with building church services creatively using ancient and modern liturgical forms  
  • Experience with church AV & livestream technology
  • Experience working with ChurchSuite 
  • Experience working within the purposes structure of church
