Location: Napa Valley, California
Date advertised: 5th October 2018
Job Type: Full time
Closing Date: Thursday 1st November 2018
Yountville Community Church in Napa Valley (California) is seeking a Senior Pastor to ‘replant’ (‘repot’) an historic church to reach an influential part of the United States of America.
The Senior Pastor of Yountville Community Church will be a person who is truly gifted as a pastor and evangelist, preacher and teacher, communicator and visionary.
This historic church will be undergoing a significant change as it is ‘replanted’ as a place where (often successful) residents of the valley, who are often ‘spiritual’ and yet lost to the Christian Gospel, might have the opportunity to come to Christ.
The successful applicant will be a person of deep personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. Their life will be anchored in a commitment to prayer, individually and corporately as a church. Their life and ministry will have both an entrepreneurial spirit and entrepreneurial skills – a visionary who can envision a church that influences and impacts the entire Napa Valley seven days a week.
This pastor will need to feel comfortable with:
- People of wealth and influence
- A secular society that is mostly non-churched
- Hospitality as a church and as a couple
- Wine and good food
Thus, it is critical the pastor ‘fits in and loves’ the Napa Valley.
The primary leadership style requires a highly relational person who leads through relationships and possesses significant verbal communication skills. The final candidate will be a connective leader who is well educated, articulate and a life-long learner.
A high level of emotional intelligence will be necessary in order to address the cultural challenges and provide an atmosphere of acceptance and a willingness to minister and lead with a genuine humble, servant-like spirit. This pastor will be ‘comfortable in their own skin’ and will not be threatened by the wealth or social status of potential congregants. As a result, this individual will be able and willing to share their faith in a winsome manner that attracts and connects non-churched persons to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The pastor of Yountville Community Church must be Biblically sound and orthodox in theology while demonstrating ‘good to great’ preaching and teaching skills. The final candidate will be articulate, motivating and inspirational in all of their communication.
This person will have a self-starting leadership style that allows for big-picture thinking and a flexible approach to different individual styles and needs. The church wishes to call an individual who has a commitment to life-long marriage and is a parent vitally involved in the lives of their children. Living a balanced life of work and play that will allow time for enjoyment of the outdoors of the Napa Valley is imperative.
The next pastor of Yountville Community Church will be a uniquely gifted individual who senses the call of God to this “re-plant” of a historic congregation.
