Community Engagement Officer – Foster Care

As a Community Engagement Officer – Foster Care, you will bridge the gap between churches, community organisations, and foster care families. You’ll empower local churches to step into the foster care story—offering pastoral support, mobilising volunteers, and ensuring foster families are wrapped in a network of care.
Foster care isn’t just about carers—it’s about the entire community responding together. In this role, In collaboration with the Anglicare Foster Care team you’ll:
- Build strategic partnerships with churches, ensuring they are actively supporting foster families.
- Facilitate engaging training on trauma-informed care, pastoral support, and community development.
- Provide one-on-one pastoral care to foster carers and volunteers, offering them guidance and encouragement.
- Collaborate with local organisations to create practical opportunities for communities to contribute to foster care.
- Support the growth of the holistic Foster Circle model, helping churches establish wraparound care teams for foster families.
This is a role where faith meets action. You’ll be instrumental in growing a movement where churches become safe havens for foster carers and children. You’ll help transform communities so that no foster family walks this journey alone.
This is a Permanent Part Time (3 days a week) role based at Macquarie Park.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re searching for a dynamic, faith-driven leader with a heart for vulnerable children and families. If you’re passionate about mobilising churches, equipping volunteers, and supporting foster carers, this is the role for you.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Have experience in pastoral care, chaplaincy, or church ministry and a deep understanding of faith-based community engagement.
- Understand the complexities of foster care and are passionate about making a difference.
- Have exceptional relationship-building skills and can engage with diverse stakeholders—from ministers to foster carers.
Desirable (but not essential!):
- Lived experience as a foster carer or working closely with vulnerable children.
- Qualifications in theology, community development, or social work.
- Experience working with trauma-affected individuals or families.
