DV Sunday 2025

Sunday 23, 30 November 2025

Thank you for your willingness to mark DV Sunday in your church.

We trust this will create opportunities for prayer and greater awareness about domestic abuse.

We have developed a range of resources that we trust you will find helpful.

The resources include:

  • The Safe Ministry Website where you’ll find all the Domestic Abuse resources developed by our diocese. This includes posters and the Domestic Abuse Policy and Good Practice Guidelines
  •  A short fact sheet with talking points that could be used to explain DV Sunday
  • Suggested songs and prayers
  • An article published in Southern Cross by Dean Sandy Grant. This might also form part of a sermon if you would like to include a sermon about domestic abuse on the Sunday.
  • Download a PDF about the “16 Days of Activism” campaign which runs annually across the world from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10. Initially this was established through the United Nations, but we have attempted to bring a Christian lens to the campaign.

Whether this is the first time you’ve addressed this issue in church or a continuation of previous efforts to raise awareness, our prayer is that those who have suffered because of domestic abuse will be assured that our church remains committed to supporting victim survivors, calling perpetrators to account, and providing unambiguous teaching regarding God’s call for husbands and wives to love one another, as well as God’s condemnation of the misuse of power to control or exploit others.
