Threats “will be repudiated by all Australians of goodwill”
Anglican Diocese of Sydney
Media Statement
Serious threats against a Sydney Mosque
The threat of a mass shooting against a Western Sydney mosque is abhorrent and distressing, especially as it references the horrific attack in Christchurch that resulted in the murder of 51 people.
To threaten Muslims in their house of worship, especially during their holy fast of Ramadan, will be repudiated by all Australians of goodwill. Such attempts to spread fear and hate must be met with the full force of law, and community opposition.
The scriptures tell us we are made in the image of God. Therefore we should all reject hate, threats and violence directed towards any community, irrespective of race, background or religion.
