Sydney Synod Meeting Again today: Safe Ministry the main debate this afternoon

The Synod of the Diocese of Sydney will meet again this afternoon and evening in the Wesley Theatre, 220 Pitt Street, Sydney.

This afternoon at 4.30pm the Synod will debate issues regarding Safe Ministry. This means the provision of safe ministry practices and procedures to protect children and other vulnerable people.

The reports ask for a Safe Ministry Officer to be appointed for each parish, and diocesan organizations will also be encouraged to have a similar role for a staff person.

This evening at 7.00pm Synod will receive a report on the progress of the new Capital Project. This project entails a total review of diocesan capital assets and a possible redistribution of capital to resource the building of new churches and new outreach and mission ministries.

The Synod will not meet for the rest of this week, ie on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th October. It will convene again next Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th October in the Wesley Theatre.
