I remember two bits of advice given to me about getting married. Dad’s simple advice was not to do it. A friend told me to forget any idea of the wedding being ‘mine’.
Looking back I can say that only half of the advice was right.
But Peter Downey scores much better than half right in this happy contribution to the tricky business of getting married. There is advice on writing invitations, throwing the bouquet, and dealing with the in-laws. Funny, practical, and detailed, this is the book for blokes who don’t read books! It is good enough to persuade your non-book reader to give it a go. It is not hard work and it is fun. Downey uses such a combination of layout, short chapters, good stories and common sense that you can give it away with confidence. Though he is unashamedly Christian, Downey is gentle on the preaching and big on smart thinking. Give it away freely – it’s a beauty.
