Happy Fathers Day! Bring out the Bunnings gift vouchers and socks. We love our Dads, the sacrifices, leadership, taking-out-the-bins-at-the-last-minute and forgetting to pick you up when they promised.

Fathers Day can be a hard day for some, and we hope these verses will help you appreciate and praise God for your Dads, forgive their failings and reach out to God as our ultimate Father, today and every day.

We’re sharing verses that identify the emotions, chaos and difficulty of having a Dad.

1. The feels when you know your Dad is proud of you

Be honest, you live for those moments.

Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, children, a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons born in one’s youth. Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them. Such men will never be put to shame when they speak with their enemies at the city gate.  Psalm 127:3-5

2. Knowing your Dad is just doing his best to look out for you

Even when he gets it wrong sometimes.

"What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent;  or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13

3. When your Dad is mad, but you know it’s because he loves you.

Sometimes, you need to hear what he has to say

My son, do not take the Lord’s discipline lightly or faint when you are reproved by HIm. For the Lord disciplines the one He loves and punishes every son he receives. Endure suffering as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. Hebrews 12:5-7

4. When your Dad is trying to teach you something

Even if you don’t want to listen right then, you know you’ll come back to it later.

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck. (Proverbs 1:8-9)

5. When you realise that your Dad is following the pattern God set

The best possible pattern he could follow.

For this reason, I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. Ephesians 3:14

6. Cause you are all about celebrating the joy of having a Dad

God loves us and he chose us. Ahhh.

When the time came to completion, God sent HIs son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of HIs Son into our hearts, crying “Abba, Father!” So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.  Galatians 4:4-7

7. When your Dad lets you down

Remember, your heavenly Father does care for you.

Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me. Psalm 27:10

8. When you realise all God’s people can be part of your fam

Greatest fam ever!

Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and with all propriety, the younger women as sisters. 1 Timothy 5 :1-2
