37 candidates are awaiting ordination as deacons this weekend, a brother and sister, and the daughter of the NSW governor.
The Governor, General David Hurley, will be present to see his daughter, Caitlin, ordained for work in the South Sydney area.
Other deacons to ordained by Archbishop Glenn Davies include brother and sister Matthew and Rebecca Baines. Their older brother Mike was ordained four years ago and a cousin, Mark, is also in ordained ministry. Their father is the Rev Peter Baines who is a Chaplain at Long Bay jail.
A husband and wife will be united in ordained ministry. The Rev Kate Snell is chaplain at Barker School and was ordained last year. This year, her husband Brian will be ordained and he will take up ministry in Hornsby.
Other ordinands will work across the diocese in ministry such as prison chaplaincy, university chaplaincy, church plants with the Department of Evangelism and New Churches and one ordinand, Michael Mantle, is being ordained under special arrangements for the bishop of London.
