Today Anglican Media announces the arrival of a new video platform set to deliver free visual resources to Christian workers across the Diocese.
In the tradition of Southern Cross and Sydneyanglicans.net, the monthly production called SX Digital will provide news, events and resource videos aimed at assisting local churches.
"Video is the language of the new millennium," says producer Mark Hadley. "It was inevitable that we would begin speaking to our Christian communities this way."
The first edition of SX Digital is being delivered on DVD to Sydney Anglican churches this week.
Segments are also available to view and download from Sydneyanglicans.net.
"Many churches have gone to significant effort and expense to set up video facilities so that they could participate in The Big Day In," says Anglican Media CEO, Allan Dowthwaite.
"We want to help them get the maximum benefit from their investment."
Truly useful videos
The March edition of SX Digital contains:
* A news story covering the Big Day In
* A resource for small groups underlining the historical reliability of the Gospel of Luke
* An animation for youth groups on God's solution for sin
* Video event reminders for Katoomba Easter Convention and the CMS prayer day
* A preview of the material available in the current edition of the Southern Cross newspaper
"Each edition of SX Digital will provide a variety of videos suitable for use in a range of meetings like church services, Bible studies and youth groups," Mr Dowthwaite says.
Anglican Media has also secured the rights to all SX Digital material so that church workers won't have to worry about the legal permissions that often dog the use of video resources.
Producer Mark Hadley says great pains have been taken to ensure that the material will be of real use.
"We've all had that experience where a piece of video dominates rather than assists an event," he says. "We aim to be much more flexible."
"SX Digital is delivered in segments, so you can break the production apart. And everything runs between two and five minutes, so you can use as little or as much as you like."
SX Digital is also available as a complete 15-minute vodcast so that Christians can preview all of the segments each month before selecting their downloads.
