From Sinner to Saint is a well-written study on holiness that challenges us to consider ourselves and God, and what constitutes holiness. It examines us and our sinful state, and God's plan for us and our eventual holiness.
Authors John Chapman and Simon Roberts have put together a study that looks at the essentials of this topic. Each study examines several Bible passages in both the Old and New Testaments. The accompanying videos do not merely repeat what the Bible passages say (as with some similar studies) but offer analysis of the passages and how they relate to the topic. The questions relating to each passage allow you to delve into the passage's meaning, and they also allow for different levels of understanding from different people.
The videos are an interesting addition and something that is increasingly being used to accompany studies. John Chapman's style is engaging and easy to watch. He discusses some difficult topics with ease, making them simpler to understand, but he doesn't come off as superior or even particularly academic. It is as though, while watching the DVD component, you are discussing the issue of holiness with an old friend, albeit a very knowledgeable one.
Each study has a good balance of the theoretical (looking at the Bible passages and the videos) and practical application. Included in the book is a time line of how long it should take to complete each part of the study. This can be useful if you have a talkative group or are leading a group for the first time. Also given is an overview of each of the sessions, which is handy for both the group leader in preparing the study, and the group members in participating in the study (although it certainly isn't necessary for the group members to read the overview in order to participate).
The study guide does say that the five-part series can be done by individuals or groups, however I would recommend doing it in a group situation. The questions are geared more towards group study than individual study and would benefit from discussion.
This is an engaging study that would be good for people at almost all levels of spiritual maturity " there is something to be gained by everyone.
