The honest approach has earned a Christian musician high praise from an audience of Northern suburbs fans.
Singer / songwriter Richard Beeston's debut album "Regenerate' was launched at St Andrews Wahroonga in front of close to 120 Christians and non-Christians.
Richard Beeston says "Regenerate' reflects his honest attempts to discover his purpose in life through a relationship with God.
"People often say that Christians are hypocrites" unfortunately I'd have to say they're right. As Christians, we are always saying one thing and doing the other. But the brilliant part about God's love is that he continues to love us, despite the fact that we don't live up to our promises. That's what we call grace," Mr Beeston says.
The album launch included two sets by Mr Beeston and his supporting band, with a dance-off later in the evening to keep fans up on their feet.
Mr Beeston says the songs that delved into his personal struggles helped non-Christians present understand the value of a life lived with God.
"Many people really appreciated the honesty of the songs and thanked me for being open about my faith and the difficulties that my wife and I have experienced," Mr Beeston says.
"But the biggest cheers were reserved for those songs that painted a picture of God's unstoppable love even when life is tough or when we don't treat him as we should."
