Sydneyanglicans.net reports the latest ministry moves in the Sydney Diocese.
Meet the PSU’s new director
Archbishop Peter Jensen has announced that Glenn Murray will be the new director of professional standards for Sydney Diocese.
Mr Murray will take up the position on August 10, after finishing at his current position as working as Human Resources Manager, Northern Sydney Sector, NSCC Area Health Service. Mr Murray has had several years experience with Professional Standards Unit matters, having been a member of the Safe Ministry Board and a member of the Parish Recovery Teams.
"I am looking to build on the good work of Philip Gerber and the Safe Ministry Board and further extend safe ministry and best practice into the parishes and organisations of the Diocese," he says.
Mr Murray is member of Figtree Anglican Church, a service leader in the 8am congregation, and as a Synod representative.
Calder moves to warmer clime
The Rev Mark Calder will be leaving St Andrew's, Roseville on October 18, after 18 years as senior minister. "We will miss the people at Roseville tremendously and are so thankful to God for what has been a very happy gospel partnership," Mr Calder says. He will become the rector at Noosa Anglican Church in Brisbane Diocese later in the year and says that is where he feels God wants him to be. "The parish in Noosa has a lot of people who love Jesus and want to reach out to the people in their community," he says. "So we're looking forward to getting involved."
Tong for Deputy Chancellor
The Archbishop has appointed Robert Tong as the Deputy Chancellor of the Sydney Diocese. Mr Tong had served as acting chancellor before the current chancellor, His Honour, Acting Judge Peter Johns, was appointed. Mr Tong is a member of the Sydney Diocesan Standing Committee and a former member of the Anglican Consultative Council.
Mulgoa gets the gift Olliffe
The Parish of Mulgoa will welcome the Rev Matthew Olliffe as their new rector from October 19, after he leaves St Paul's Shellharbour, where he has been assistant minister for just under three years. Mr Olliffe is looking forward to "good opportunities for the gospel" in the Western Sydney centres of Mulgoa, Warragamba, Silverdale Wallacia and Luddenham. "It’s a church going in the right direction dealing well with their semi-rural situation," he says.
Tooher of London now at Moore
Jane Tooher joins the Moore College faculty on August 3 after four years as women’s pastor of London’s floating church, St Peter’s Barge at Canary Wharf.
“Jane will be supporting, encouraging and promoting women’s ministry through the various courses offered at Moore College,” says Moore’s Dean of Women, the Rev Tara Thornley. Moore’s principal, Dr John Woodhouse says the whole college community is looking forward to Ms Tooher’s arrival and the wealth of experience she brings.
