"It is not too much to say that no other contemporary Australian Christian has had a more original mind or shown a more penetrating insight into questions of pure theology, and that insight was derived from his understanding of the supreme revelation of the truth in the Bible."

Sir Marcus Loane speaking of his friend and colleague D.B. Knox

It is with this thought in mind, that many will welcome the arrival of the third and final volume in the Selected Works of David Broughton Knox, published through Matthias Media.

In his lifetime D.B. Knox was a prolific lecturer, preacher and writer, but only a small portion of his output was ever published, much of which subsequently fell out of print.

According to Tony Payne from Matthias Media, "It was for this reason that the "Selected Works' project began in 1988.  We set about to remedy the situation by making D.B. Knox's contribution accessible to a wider audience."

Volume 3 contains a diverse collection of materials relating to the broad theme of "the Christian life'.  There is also a mix of theological papers, sermons and lecture notes, as well as numerous short articles adapted from his long-running "Protestant Faith' radio broadcasts.

Edited by Tony Payne and Karen Beilharz, the book is a stimulating read and an excellent resource for any thoughtful Christian.

Adds Tony, "Knox was one of the most extraordinary theological minds of his generation.  He also believed that the Christian life is not difficult to understand."

This book is a very good example of this principle.  It highlights the profound theological insights of Knox, yet they are expressed simply and clearly.

In the words of D.B. Knox, Christians are simply people who "have turned away from the world to serve the true and living God, and to wait for his Son from heaven. No longer earthbound they are heavenly-minded, seeking not earthly blessings benefits and affluence, but the heavenly blessing of relationship with God and with one another."
