Bishop Brian King died yesterday morning, Wednesday November 22, after a long illness.
A thanksgiving service for Brian's life will be held in St Andrew’s Cathedral on Tuesday, December 5 at 11am.
Archbishop Peter Jensen has expressed his sympathies to the King family
“Brian was a much-loved pastor and teacher in this diocese over many years," Dr Jensen said. "His ministry was a very significant one in parish life and as Bishop of Western Sydney and the Australian Defence Force in particular. Our sympathy and prayers are with his wife Pamela and their three sons.”
Brian King was Bishop of Western Sydney from 1993 " 2003, and Bishop to the Australian Defence Force from 1994 " 2001.
Since his time as a first grade rugby player at Gordon had a long involvement in sporting ministries and had a key role in the evangelistic ministry to the Sydney Olympics.
Ordained in 1964, he served in the parishes of Dural and Wahroonga. He is particularly remembered for his long ministry at St Matthews, Manly
Bishop King is survived by his wife Pamela and his three sons and their families: Andrew, Philip & Lucy and Matt & Jo and grandchildren.
