Sydneyanglicans.net has today launched its premier podcasting service, delivering the diocese' best preaching to an MP3 player near you.

The new MP3 library is part of a major revision of the site's Indepth page that aims to streamline theological research for ministry workers on the go.

"We basically sat down and asked a bunch of Sydney Anglicans, "What do you want your site to deliver?'" says editor Mark Hadley.

"The new Indepth page aims to deliver resources and research tools that help Sydney Christians get into the Bible and on top of difficult passages."

The MP3 library is set to contain contributions from key churches and affiliated organisations within the diocese.

Sources of great sermon material like Moore Theological College, Matthias Media and Katoomba Christian Conventions are already on board.

The library includes two distinctly different podcasting services.

"The first has more than Sydney in mind," Mr Hadley says.

"It delivers a new sermon drawn from a Sydney church each week to people who may be struggling because of business or location to hear good Bible teaching."

The second podcasting service delivers a "Classic' sermon from the library's vaults, and will include talks from past theological greats like Broughton Knox and Bruce Smith as well as a range of Moore College lecturers.

Other features on the revitalised page include truly powerful search tools for finding commentary on every Christian topic.

"We've included an advanced search tool that sifts the best we have to offer from our data banks," Mr Hadley says.

"But the truly awesome inclusion is the "Multi Site Search'."

This search tool allows users to simultaneously search 30 top Australian and international evangelical sites for material relating to their query.

"It beats using bigger tools like Google because it automatically screens out all that sort of rubbish that turns up in more generalised searching," he says.

Sites searched include Titus One Nine, The National Church Life Survey, Christianity Today, 9 Marks Ministries, The Australian Church Record and Ekklesia " just to name a few.

The new Indepth page also contains a streamlined relaunch of the online magazine "Mindful', with this issue tackling the thorny topic of child baptism.

"And this is just the beginning," says Mr Hadley.

"More MP3s, more tools, more Bible-to-your-desktop, will be rolled out over the next couple of months " technology and staff exhaustion levels permitting," he laughs.
