A Sydney congregation is using the latest technological "must have' to transport the Gospel to new ears.

Inner-city parish, St. Barnabas Broadway, is converting its evening sermons to the MP3 format so that they can be played through iPods and other digital audio devices.

The iPod, the impressive portable music system developed by Apple, is capable of storing thousands of songs on a pocket-sized device. No wonder it is rapidly becoming standard equipment for Sydney students.

St. Barnabas Broadway has a close association with nearby Sydney University and the University of Technology.

Thanks to St. Barnabas’ initiative some of students’ spare gigabytes can now be devoted to messages rather than music.

Sermons from St. Barnabas Rector Ian Powell, Andrew Katay and a number of visiting speakers are available.

Andrew Katay is the Anglican Chaplain at the University of Sydney, and Caroline Evenden is the Anglican Chaplain at the University of Technology.

The church also partners with campus-based Evangelical groups to run Bible studies in various colleges and student residences.
