The discussion of my last blog got derailed in a heated, if not that fruitful discussion of whether the Group-Formally-Known-As- The-Archbishop’s-Liturgical-Panel was breaking an agreement of some kind by suggesting that one possibly could use the ‘W’ word to describe what should do in church.
At the risk of stoking those very fires again I share my notes on what a Christian Great One, who is no mean theologian, said in my presence this very week in a Bible study:
“The debate about worship can be fruitless. To narrow it to just church is wrong. But to banish it from church is to focus only on each other. But he [the Lord Jesus] himself is there. Trusting in the Lord's word and obeying it is worship. If you don’t go to church to worship I don’t know what we go for.”
