Good Friday, 2016
A performance of Handel’s Messiah tonight at St Andrew’s Cathedral Sydney is to be dedicated to the people of Belgium.
Handel’s oratorio, which is traditionally performed at the Cathedral on Good Friday, attracts visitors from across Sydney.
The Belgian Consul in New South Wales, Paul Leroy, who was at the Brussels Airport when the terror attacks began, has just returned to Sydney and has accepted an invitation to attend tonight’s performance.
The performance features the world-famous Cathedral Choir joined by international soloists Penelope Mills, Timothy Chung, Joshua Oxley and Alexander Knight and will be accompanied by the Ancient Academy of St Andrew's on period instruments, directed by Ross Cobb.
