Christian people are praying people. They address each other with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. They make melody with all their heart to the Lord. They always give thanks to the Father in every circumstance and they pray for the saints. Prayer is the ordinary occupation of the Christian.

The Prayer Warriors, a group set up by Bishop Reg Piper, is forming an army for the extraordinary.  People in parishes across the Diocese are being asked to join the Prayer Warrior team by getting mobilised to pray for the Mission and requested prayer points.

The motto is Ephesians 6:18-20: Pray in the Spirit, with all prayer, with perseverance, for all saints – and for the proclamation of the gospel by his ambassadors.

Josh Stavert - Wollongong Region
“It focuses you to pray for the mission. Because I’m praying for it, during the day I’m thinking about it when I’m speaking to friends at uni. Even if you aren’t doing mission activities, you can still pray for it anytime.”

Joan Tasker - Georges River Region
“As we think about our Mission, it’s great if everyone can be involved. There are people who are upfront people, but not everyone can do that. But everyone can be praying for it. It’s an achievable thing.”

Jacqueline Groombridge - Northern Region
“I think we need a lot of prayer to get through the negativity that people feel about Christianity. To get them to see the need to know Jesus is quite an effort. – without prayer you wouldn’t get anything achieved.”
