Diana Williams, a former US corporate high flyer, seems an unlikely partner for an Australian ‘Bush Aboriginal’. Yet in 1984 Diana and (Uncle) Ron Williams married, living in and out of tents, in the desert, creek beds and anywhere they could help meet the needs of Indigenous people.

Ron had been an evangelist since his conversion in the rough and tumble mining region of Kalgoorlie. Ron’s and Diana’s union was sorely tested. Missionary colleagues were unable to give her their blessing believing that a marriage involving such cultural differences could not succeed. Tensions inevitably arose, but through joy, tears and an unshakable reliance on God, Diana and Ron have brought the Christian message to thousands. For western Christians wanting an understanding of how Christianity can impact on Indigenous culture without syncretic distortion, this book is most helpful.
