Last year I shared 5 videos you could play in your Christmas church services - check out ‘5 videos for Christmas services (2009)’.
This year I share another five - with more to come. Check back at Communicate Jesus (link), or subscribe to the email updates (link to subscribe), for new resources in the lead-up to Christmas.
Rejoice, O Earth (purchase here)
This video is well-produced but text-heavy (i.e. it isn’t suitable for smaller children who can’t read), and explains what happened at Christmas.
The Newborn King (purchase here)
With simple graphics, this video shares the Christmas story, with a voiceover.
Celebrating Christmas (purchase here)
The voiceover on this video might grate a little with Australian audiences - he sounds like he does the voiceovers for Hollywood blockbusters. However, this fits with the genre, as the video is created in the style of a movie trailer.
God With Us (purchase here)
This video acts as a pray - inviting Jesus to come to us this Christmas. The tone is quite sombre, and I couldn’t help but feel that Jesus comes across in this video as a bit of a ‘Mr Fix-it’ - which he is, but he is so much more than that too. What do you think?
The Birth of Jesus Christ (purchase here)
This video (with a voiceover from a former character from BBC’s ‘The Bill’ - do you remember who he is?!) - acts out the story of Christmas, focusing on Joseph. This video uses human actors (in contrast to the animated videos above).
