One of the first major events of the re-purposed Evangelism Ministries has been announced. Sydney clergy or anyone in full-time gospel work are being invited to an all day seminar to, in the words of Bishop Al Stewart, to “make our churches, church planting bases’.
The day is set down for the Wesley Centre in Pitt St, on July 30.
“We need new churches, they attract new people, they are hungry and flexible, they allow new leadership to get their hands on the wheel. We have a huge network of parish churches that we can use to be bases for planting new churches.” says Bishop Stewart.
The day will cover areas such as Cross cultural church planting, find the right planters, how to raise finances and how to build a team.
“We have rectors with expertise, and church planters keen to have a go. July 30 is aimed to help us learn together how turn our churches into bases for planting new churches.”
Some of the rectors to share their experience are Bruce Hall from St Paul’s, Carlingford, Michael Williamson from Shellharbour City Anglican, Martin Morgan from Rouse Hill Anglican and Rick Smith - Naremburn/Cammeray
There’ll be further detail in next month’s Southern Cross and full coverage of the conference on sydneyanglicans.net.
