Months of effort have culminated in a new digital presence for Sydney Diocese and its parish services.
Today's launch of the new "web portal' at www.sydneyanglicans.net brings together the homepages for Anglican Media Sydney (AMS), the Archbishop of Sydney Peter Jensen and the newly revamped Sydney Diocesan Secretariat (SDS) at one easy to find web address.
Manager of Online Business Services at SDS, Matthew Smith has driven the new look SDS website at www.sds.asn.au, which improves access to information provided by the Secretariat and about its service offering to the Diocese.
"The secretariat website has traditionally been structured around the documents people are looking for, which can make it hard to find something if you don't know where to start looking," Mr Smith says.
"We have completely restructured the site so it's based around who you are as a visitor and directs you to information relevant to your role in the diocese."
The SDS front page contains links for information relevant to clergy, churchwardens and parish councillors, bishops and archdeacons, synod and standing committee members and for other committee and board members.
"If you fall into a particular user group, that's where you go to get all the information relevant to your role," Mr Smith says.
"If we've done our job properly people won't need to go searching all over the site for different items."
Mr Smith says while the site's content hasn't changed, there are plans to add new features in the future, making it more than just a site for static content.
"We are developing a secure log-in section for members of standing committee and other committees where they can obtain agendas and minutes of meetings," he says.
It is planned that the new website will be the gateway for the delivery of future parish business applications and other services to assist ministry in the diocese.
