Readers of sydneyanglicans.net have a special opportunity to ask questions of American preacher Mark Driscoll in the next 24 hours.

A selection of these questions will then be asked during an interview with Pastor Driscoll that will take place after a news conference he will be holding on Wednesday in Sydney.

Meanwhile the Burn Your Plastic Jesus event in Sydney is approaching a sellout with more than 8000 tickets sold so far.

The event, which will take place at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Wednesday August 27, has been in planning for the past six months and Pastor Driscoll is already in Sydney preparing for Burn Your Plastic Jesus and for the Engage Conference at Katoomba late this month.

The visit, which the Driscolls are combining with a family holiday in Australia, is being sponsored by Katoomba Christian Convention, which runs a series of conventions every year including Easter Convention, men’s and women’s events, Next Generation, KYCK and Engage.

KCC CEO Richard Earley says “Mark is loving the time in Sydney with his family and looking forward to his Australian speaking engagements.”

The Engage conference sold out in 11 minutes when tickets went on sale earlier this year and Mr Earley says tickets for Burn Your Plastic Jesus may run out before the event next week.

In a preview video, Pastor Driscoll urged Christians in Sydney to invite friends and family to the Burn Your Plastic Jesus event.

“I’ll be speaking on the plastic views of Jesus, false views of Jesus that religious people " Christians and non-Christians alike " have, try to burn those down and build up a biblical portrait of the true Jesus.”

He has also made a family video, filmed with his five children, in which they talk about their excitement at coming to Australia.
